Feb 21, 2022

North Central Baptist and Resolute Health Hospital receive national honor

(San Antonio, TX) – San Antonio and New Braunfels communities can take pride and comfort in knowing they have the safest hospitals in the nation for their health care. North Central Baptist Hospital in Stone Oak and Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunfels have received top honors among 149 hospitals nationwide. The two hospitals each earned “Top Hospital Award” recognition and were the only two hospitals in Texas to receive the award in the Top General Hospital Award category from the Leapfrog Group, the nation’s most competitive recognition for excellence in hospital safety and quality.

Data from the annual Leapfrog Hospital Survey is used to identify the top hospitals and selection was based on excellence in upholding quality standards across several areas of patient care. This includes medication safety, surgery outcomes, and infection rates, among many other patient priorities.

The Top Hospitals are recognized in four categories: Top General Hospitals (46 recipients), Top Rural Hospitals (23 recipients), Top Teaching Hospitals (72 recipients), and Top Children’s Hospitals (8 recipients). North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio and Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunfels were both honored in the Top General Hospitals category.

Matt Stone, CEO of Baptist Health System, said he is very proud that Baptist hospitals have been recognized nationwide for safe care and credits the hospital staff with the honor.

“Our staff make it their mission and top priority to keep our patients safe every day,” Stone said. “Our communities deserve the safest care for their loved ones and our teams ensure they protect our patients and provide high quality compassionate care to all who walk through our doors. They take pride in their healthcare calling,” he said.

Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group said the 2021 Top Hospitals have truly set themselves apart when it comes to dedication to their patients.

“American hospitals continue to face unprecedented challenges this year due to the pandemic, and Leapfrog is honored to recognize those that continue to uphold the highest standards of quality and safety with the Top Hospital Award,” Binder said. “We congratulate the physicians, nurses, and all clinicians as well as the staff, volunteers, and leadership who made patient safety their priority,” she said.
