Baptist Health System Named Among America’s Best Employers For Diversity

February 9, 2018 - Baptist Health System is one of only 23 health care systems across the country to be recognized as a “Best Employer for Diversity” in a new list published this month by Forbes Magazine.

Baptist is the only local health system to earn the designation and one of only four Texas hospitals to make the list. “A health care workforce that reflects diversity is crucial to providing the best care for our patients,” said Baptist Health System CEO Matt Stone. “Our employees are a reflection of our community.”

The ranking is part of Forbes magazine’s first list of the 250 “Best Employers for Diversity.” To create the list, Forbes and a national research firm surveyed 30,000 employees across the United States asking questions about age, disability, diversity, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. Greater weight was given to responses from underrepresented ethnic minorities, women, and people older than 50.

In an article announcing the list, Forbes’ Leadership Editor Fred Allen said that Forbes is "proud to be releasing its first annual ranking of the best employers for diversity in America," because "diversity has become a business imperative" since it "makes businesses better places and richer in every sense of the word."
